


CIVILIAN was among 10 international architecture firms asked to provide design proposals for 1014 Inc. - a new cultural institute and residency sponsored by the German Government in a townhouse on 5th Avenue. The program included public event, gallery and exhibition spaces; private staff offices; apartments and amenity spaces for a residency program. Working with Stonehill & Taylor Architects and a full cadre of specialized consultsants, the team proposed a user-experience focused renovation that made the most of the remarkable attributes of the building, integrated greenspaces into all program types and specific references to German design and art from the early 20th century to the present day.
